The Kidz project is being released soon! Keep checking kidz.glitch.me
KIDZ IS RELEASED NOW! Check it out!
KIDZ IS FIXED - kidz.statuspage.io
@anon69241012, a few suggestions:
- Linting and syntax highlighting for the code.
- Better layout and UI
- Option to save projects using accounts
I reccomend using CodeMirror
Or Ace.js or Monaco.
Thanks! We’re not good with databases, so we may not be able to do a login form, and we will get a better layout and UI. It may be hard to do linting and syntax highlighting. Thank you for your valued opinion.
I’ve heard about Kidz from @idodev and I think it’s a cool idea!
that is quite rude to say here in the forums
Yes. Thanks. If you’d like to work with us, DM me
What post are you referring to?
I removed it. That’s what matters.
Stay up to date! https://kidz.statuspage.io/
Hi derin.
@DerDer56@khalby786, the editor was originally made by me, (https://new-learn-code.glitch.me) and I was already going to make syntax highlighting. Also, why isn’t there credit on https://kidz-beta.glitch.me?
Stolen content? @anon69241012 What do you have to say about this?
We will delete the stolen content
An overagreesive linter to teach kids best practices for code
Jk, but you should switch from using popups to something like golden layout.
No, all is fine.
I did - I’d send a screenshot but I can’t
I didn’t steal it - I asked permission
What Happened?
@Anish is accusing me of stealing the editor - I asked permission
But I thought you asked preemisson
I did - I have screenhot. I’ll get it
@code-alt is this true?
I think the problem lies in the fact that TheBigC said he’d give credit, and credit is not on the page. Also the screenshot is kidzeditor.glitch.me while the pages in question are new-learn-code.glitch.me & kidz-beta.glitch.me
new-learn-code is the base project. kidzedit is the name of the project with credit. You are probably looking at the other one. kidzedit is the official one
Whoops! Not kidzeditor - it’s kidzedit.glitch.me Sorry
True, @RiversideRocks. However, I found this out at kidz-beta.glitch.me, which just had the editor, but not a loading screen with credits.
In my opinion it’s best not to put credits on the loading screen. If someone were to do a video they’d probaly start recoding after the loading screen. You could put some white text on the bottom right that says credits that can show a popup
Whoops… Sorry… I’ll get rid of that because we’re no longer using that project. If you want, I could give you edit perms and you could beta the new editor.
COLOUR SCHEME UPDATED! Look!
kids-beta is not deleted yet @anon69241012
@idodev We will process your request.
what do you mean by that
@idodev We will process your request. It will be done ASAP.
ok?? @anon69241012
@idodev We will process your request now.
@idodev It has been deleted… by the way the project was private
it was do you know who made it?
I did… It was google material design
wait you made kidz-beta.glitch.me ??
Wait… No… That wasn’t me… I made kidzbeta.glitch.me… Not with the -. That was @code-alt’s unofficial AuroraOS based copy we never released…
@anon69241012 alt guy never made it
@idodev I KNOW ALL
I can’t wait for you to make your own “Verizon” called K1dz… Do you have cell phone towers? LOL
I’m sort of confused…
What is going on?
@RiversideRocks I’ll DM you.
@RiversideRocks A Backend joke…
what do you mean by ‘cel phone towers’
@Fionn said that you spelled “version of K1dz” wrong and it became “Verison called K1dz” which was like “Verizon called K1dz” lol
It might get expensive maintaining the cell towers, just a warning.
what does that have to do with me having cell phone towers
Verison is like Verizon…
ohhh I get, you thought … lol
https://kidz.glitch.me/home does not work, even though the website sometimes directs you to this.
- When you click “home” at the bottom of the mainpage
- When you click “home” on https://kidz.glitch.me/comingsoon.html
Someone messed with the code. Rewind soon.
@bakzkndd EDIT: We’re not rewinding, but we fixed /home so it works and /comingsoon.html is being fixed as we speak.
I fixed a bit of the code and the bot ban works! Take a peek!
We know the new update doesn’t work with viewport, but it still works! We’ll be adding responsive viewport support soon! Reply if you have any questions!
Just wondering, why is the whole website an Iframe?
Because its a big brain moment
The website is a bit odd…
- Typing any url shows the homepage https://kidz.glitch.me/helloanythingcanbetyped if it doesn’t have a dot
- Clicking read on the coder and then clicking back doesn’t work
- Fonts are a bit inconsistent maybe make the bottom Editor by the, the same font as the buttons
- The buttons are a bit big when I’m using a monitor, you can use media queries to resize the buttons for big screens
- Don’t fake loading screens, put it on the same page as the editor and use javascript to hide the loading screen when loading is finished
Yep, thats an odd bug with the PHP Development Server (which really shouldn’t be used on the web).
For security reasons.
What security reasons @anon69241012 ?
Also, why would you be banning people from your website? There is no real user input, everything is local.
I agree @RiversideRocks
yeah they’d have the whole website downloaded before you can ban them
Mainly for bots, could destroy Kidz with ddos, we don’t have cloudflare.
@Anish we now have put credit on the main pages. New-learn-code.glitch.me is not Kidz’ editor - it is @code-alt’s editor that he has developed, that we are using under license (is that the right word to say?)
You are using it with permission
Yes. Right word. Well, we almost always ask @code-alt before we make any changes to the editor.
Even sending a message with “You have been banned” will count as a request. If they’re accessing from a .glitch.me there’s nothing you can do about them ddosing the site, you’ll have to contact glitch support to do something with the reverse proxy.
Or use a custom domain, then use cloudflare.
Besides, after looking at the code I see the main page is just an iframe of a file called IP allowed? Couldn’t the spammer just visit that file if they got IP banned?
@RiversideRocks We’re working on a clever name, I almost fell asleep thinking of a name.
Also we’re getting a new logo. https://cdn.glitch.com/782a4298-9718-4e77-8c2f-983bcc02efdb%2Fkidz.png?v=1590588542101 is wearing off a bit.
i can design a logo if u guys want
We’re not hiring anyone at the moment, and I’m working on some kind of logo. I think it will have KIDZ in big letters and images etc.
ok im looking forward 2 seeing it,
i agree, the old one got a little… old.
Yep. I think this will do, but it hasn’t been approved by our dev team. Actually, this won’t be our logo, it will be part of our ad campaign
Clap Clap Clap…
mmhhmmmmmmm…
You should use something white for the K, readability is impacted because of the dark background
So much drama lmfao like actually I was confused reading this cus I’m not too sure what was happening
Thanks for your feedback!
maybe you could get rid of the whole iframe thing and instead us defresh, a project i’m working on
I hate to disappoint you but your idea has sort of been taken by something called instantclick
http://instantclick.io/ which you can see in action on dev.to.
yes, but that one requires a download
and you can use defresh with javascript using the defresh()
function
@DerDer56 when it means by download it uses script tags
Yours is on your own website. (Much slower - Glitch is not a CDN) while’s theres is hosted on your sever specifically (much faster)
yes, however, i will soon transfer the site to github pages and use a cdn
when the site is done
and for the record, i’ve used Defresh on a different site and the function worked just fine
We’ll look into it…
I don’t really have a problem with showing off new ideas that could help kidz…
sorry, i was just trying to help
I woundnt consider it as an ad. I would consider it as “giving help”.
Why is there a copy of the glitch project not found screen
the normal site works
and you wouldn’t need an extra project for statements
@javaarchive
Their project uses a bunch of different methods of showing stuff, including iframes, so the Project Not Found is probably an iframe to a separate project for statements, that is no longer a thing
The go back button on one of the pages is also broken, the website seems to lack a great deal of quality assurance and checks.
The thing is - they use methods to do their website that make it more confusing and hard work to set up. Why not just use express?
because of the new 24/7 rule
It was using these methods long before the 24/7 for static projects was introduced
true. and honestly, the iframe thing is annoyying and slow
it’s not an iframe if you view source it literally shows the project not found page
Maybe its the 404 page?
kidz is a static page. no 404 there!
I think that the “Not Found” is the new 404 page.
oh, the default one! i think you’re right.
I don’t get what you mean by that
the regular 404 page for static projects has been changed
like: static.glitch.me/404
nope there inst any 404 page
that ones actuallly a server page
go to 77rockbo.glitch.me/404
oh ok. thats cool.
Relax. We’re working on a major site fix.
Dear glitch,
ummm did you switch up 404 pages and project not found pages by accident just curious
yeah lol i was wondering that too.
Same here
btw kidz you should really update https://kidz.statuspage.io/
also the disable right click function isn’t working.
here’s the correct code:
document.addEventListener('contextmenu', e => e.preventDefault());
but i’d suggest getting rid of it altogether
The problem with kids is that you don’t host the projects. This means you can’t do anything that requires a server or server processing. You don’t get a URL
You need to host the projects.
wdym?
Not sure what the point of the disable right click option is.
If you are trying to disable people from viewing the source, that is pretty much impossible.
You can use these tools to view the code:
cURL
CTRL + U
cURL -A “User Agent Here”
kidz wants to hide the fact that they use iframes for quick navigation instead of a program like instantclick or defresh
We don’t use it anymore.
No that’s not the thing, it’s for the privacy of our users and also to try to protect our code.
Like I said, if you don’t want it to be stolen, don’t put it on the internet. Simple as that.
There are endless ways to bypass an “anti-code stealing system”.
yeah there’s nothing stopping them from pressing control/command s to download the whole thing
Also whats to be stolen? The html? That can be done to any site.
you could just copyright the code.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people who like to copy things and profit of it(as the creator of Wexond an electron based browser found out). 99.99% of websites that aren’t very dynamic(like search engines or pastebin) can be copied
Yes but that can happen to literally any site.
There’s literally no way of preventing Inspect Element. Even if you blocked all known shortcut keys to inspect elements, browsers to the rescue.
Fun fact: CodePen is actually made of iframes, but it becomes unnoticeable and effective because CodePen uses React.
i always have an userstyle that gives iframes a cyan border, so i can figure out quickly if a area is being iframed
Thats a pretty good idea, I should look into that. Do you just use a user style extension?
yeah, but userstyles.org seems to be dying recently so the userstyles market place is a bit broken
Wait, everything is happening on a single page on Kidz? Modals or iframes? I thought only the editor was an iframe!
We’re working on it.
is kidz done? @anon69241012
Is it open source?
No. Back to you.
Not yet. Still waiting for a new look.
I’ve never heard of “TalkTalk” before, however I can assure you that Kidz does not promote gambling. @Pufferfish101007
TalkTalk is a UK based ISP.
