Glitch applies Markdown processing to mastodon user handles

When I’m in mastodon with v4.3.0-alpha.3+glitch and I reply to a user whose handle is wrapped in underscores, the markdown processing is applied before the handle processing turns it into a link. (I’m purely guessing about how this works.)
