I see a lot of people posting under The Gallery topic about unreleased software people are going to create (including myself). I think this is the wrong place to put the content and there should be another topic about Ideas or something like that.
If this topic were to be made I would move all my unfinished projects that I have made a topic for under that category.
Or something called “Upcoming projects”
Indeed, I think this is needed because “The Gallery” is being flooded by topics that isn’t actually something people can use, or anything like that.
I don’t have any more votes, but you have my vote! Plus, I think @glitch_support should see this.
Thanks! Also it was a good idea to mention the support group, did not think of that! Thanks
Darn! Can we lift the voting limit? Here’s my invisible vote!
me too! one vote aswell!
Just like the second post and pretend it’s a vote
You have my vote.
Same Here, you have my vote too
Another invisible vote!
I really hope the Glitch staff will add a new topic for this soon
Maybe like.
Help wanted!
Developers Need!
Coming Soon!
Technically help wanted and developers needed is basically the glitch help category, but the coming soon category should be created!
Preferably, I would like #glitch-help and #coding-help clean of pleas for people to help you, especially if you haven’t even started the project. This forum is about collaboration and receiving support, not making somebody make something for you when you sit back, watch them and do nothing. That isn’t collaboration and shouldn’t be what this forum is for
I agree with @EddiesTech, but I also agree that sometimes developers are indeed needed if a person wants to start a huge project and will need 1-3 devs including themselves to develop the project, anyhow that is probably something that can be included in a coming soon post I suppose.
I’m not against asking for help or for collaboration, just people wanting stuff done for them (spoon feeding)
Exactly, spoon feeding shouldn’t be done anywhere, if it was up to me then asking to be spoon fed or spoon feeding someone would be against the ToS of this forum xd
Agreed. I think that it needs to be share that a post like this:
How do I build a homepage for my website?
is not as good as this:
How do I make text italic in html?
Google and duckduckgo are good for asking the first type of question.
There should be clearer guidance on making a good post, like on stack overflow. And on stack overflow, if you do too many bad questions you get banned from asking them and commenting and stuff
Well hello from another fellow duckduckgo user! Good question, a spoiler will attract more attention I suppose.
I usually just link them to how to ask, it explains very well how to ask a good question there
That’s the guidance I am referring to
At least we don’t have any people who ask to ask https://dontasktoask.com/
Do anyone know how active the Glitch staff are? I haven’t seen them appear a lot lately, probably due to the staff cut Idk…
it is a mystery…
That’s sorta sad, I think Glitch should try to become a little more open-source so people who actually can could help out more. Right now things are going extremely slow, even on the forums and their support mail.
yeah, glitch being open-source would be great because then people find bugs quicker
i agree with everything said, sorry i just woke up
They should also get a hackerone, bugs could get patched faster that way.
You have my vote! An actual one
@ihack2712 @RiversideRocks I emailed Glitch Support about a few forum issues and @tasha got back to me. She said this about spoon-feeding:
Thanks again to the amazing Glitch support team for clarifying issues
Eddie
Yes, thanks for the great reply @glitch_support. Also I have seen many users (eg. @ihack2712) use StackOverflow’s How To Ask A Good Question article, maybe we can adopt that here too?
The how to ask article (linked here) is really good and should probably be added to the rules.
This is the one I’ve been linking to as well.
I’m sure there will be nothing wrong if we use that article here.
Hello @glitch_support I was wondering if this topic has been considered or something or if there are any chance of this “upcoming projects” category to be made?
bump
Little bit off-topic but I saw an advert for DuckDuckGo when out and about! Was never expecting to see that
Woah thats so cool! They have a map of them, but I have never seen one in real life.

is @glitch_support considering this idea?
maybe email [email protected] with a link to this thread?
Yet another topic about an undone project that is coming soon.
I feel it is time this is implemented soon
I mean, even if it’s upcoming, it is a project. And- the way you worded that kinda sounded like a personal attack pointed at me. How you worded that made it sound like “Ugh, why didn’t they just use my topic for this??? Geez, they need to put this in now.” So, yeah…
Its nothing personal against you, we all just want to have a separate category for upcoming projects vs completed projects. There is a big difference.
Hi, I’m really sorry if you felt like this was an attack against you, that was not my intention, the purpose of my post was to point out that we need a separate place for upcoming projects and projects that are already finished.
Here’s what I am thinking.
- #the-gallery for completed non-Glitch projects
- #the-glitch-gallery for completed Glitch projects
- #looking-for-help for projects looking for contributers (this isn’t looking for spoonfeeding however)
- #the-idea-factory for new projects ideas for community collaboration and thoughts.
What that is great, #the-gallery has already been used for a lot of Glitch projects, maybe non-glitch projects can get a different one, or stay in the same cateogry?
Bump, still a good idea.
I included this in the mail to Glitch. Hope they implement this soon
I included in a mail to Glitch a long time ago (that one I sent via DM @ihack2712) and they never have implemented it
Yeah… Have they actually ever implemented something from feature ideas?
🆄:m:︎Ⓟ cause this is a great idea
My school blocked duckduckgo
DuckDuckGo has a lot of mirrors:
https://api.duckduckgo.com/hello
https://safe.duckduckgo.com/hello
Ok. Thanks!
Also it doesn’t make sense why the school would block it because since you cant change history then they would see the URL “duckduckgo.com/your+search+term+here”.
There are ways to send POST requests to DDG to mask your history.
Ok. Thanks!
offtopic:
my school has a firewall- search terms with words referring to stuff like s__ are auto-blocked by the school
esafety gone a bit too far some may think
@ihack2712 I guess your wish was kind of granted, but now we have no ability to make these posts at all
RIP Glix Thread (2020-2020)
Yeah, I just saw it got closed. But that was a fair adjustment! I’ll come out to y’all when it’s ready
As @EddiesTech mentioned; creating topics for upcoming projects are no longer allowed on the forum, which was announced.
- Posts designed to advertise a “work in progress” (WIP)
Which also kind of automatically makes this topic useless, so everyone who voted for this can unvote and put their votes to better use!
Have a good day
